Emergency intervention carried out in less than 48 hours to replace two faulty valves in the BNP Paribas data center. To avoid shutting down the system and allow these changes to take place, two cryogenic plugs were placed on the flow and return of the system, blocking the fluid.
CRYOPIPE intervened at the BNP Paribas data center, where all the bank’s user data is transmitted. During a maintenance operation, the technicians in charge identified two faulty valves on the cooling system. CRYOPIPE had to intervene urgently to ensure the smooth running of the data center’s servers.
I was called in to install two cryogenic plugs on DN65s in a cooling loop. A plug was placed on the outflow and one on the return, blocking the flow of fluid. These plugs maintained the seal for the time it took to replace the two valves.
Once the ice had formed (12 min), traffic was immediately restored.
The replacement was carried out without draining the system and with limited downtime. The intervention had to be quick, as the servers quickly heat up and go into a safe state, risking the interruption of millions of data flows.
No overheating alarms were triggered, ensuring continued operation without incident.
