Customer issues

During a maintenance operation on a technical cooling plant, a valve at the tank outlet became stuck in the open position.
This failure made any intervention impossible, as the valve could neither be dismantled nor replaced.

The tank fed a network essential to the continuous operation of the site’s equipment, making any draining or shutdown of the system totally unthinkable.
The volume contained in the tank represented several thousand cubic meters of water, ruling out any traditional method of isolation.

Solution implemented

To avoid any interruption in operation, CRYOPIPE froze the DN270 elbow.
The ice plug thus formed retained the considerable volume contained in the tank, enabling safe intervention on the downstream section.

Thanks to this technique, the teams were able to install a new valve, welded after the elbow, while the original valve, blocked in the open position, was left in place and condemned.

The entire operation was carried out without draining or shutting down the system, while maintaining the continuous operation of the cooling network, which is essential for the maintenance of sensitive technical installations.

Pipe cryogenics offers an effective solution when it is impossible to shut down or drain a network, enabling safe, rapid intervention with no impact on operations.
